#BakeItBetter for Great Ormond Street Hospital

Over at the Silver Linings Kindness Hub, I’ve been helping Great Ormond Street Hospital promote their latest fundraising campaign, #BakeItBetter, which takes place between 17-23 October. I thought it would be remiss of me not to show my support on my own blog too!

Surely everybody knows of GOSH and the amazing work they do to care for very sick children from across the country. The GOSH Children’s Charity raises money to enable the hospital to provide world class care and to pioneer new treatments and cures for childhood illnesses. They face an incredible task – to raise about £100 million every year to support the hospital to remain at the forefront of paediatric medicine. With more than 268,000 patient visits every year, they need our support to help them give hope to their young patients and their families.

The charity is encouraging supporters to #BakeItBetter by holding a bake sale to raise vital funds for the hospital, which you can do with friends, neighbours or colleagues, and is a great excuse to get in the kitchen, perhaps with some ‘help’ from the little ones, and enjoy some yummy treats. If you aren’t able to hold a sale, why not just enjoy an afternoon’s baking with the kids and make a donation to GOSH yourself – every little helps of course.

A couple of weeks ago I spent a fun couple of hours getting messy with Joe as we knocked up some delicious chocolate brownies from my favourite recipe in the Green & Black’s Chocolate Recipes book. The ingredients call for chocolate and cherry brownies but we always just go for pure, unadulterated cocoa goodness, and they are amazing. Brilliantly, you can follow the recipe for yourself on the Green & Black’s website, and I strongly encourage you to if you’re going to #BakeItBetter too!

Share your baking fun on Twitter #BakeItBetter and Tweet @GreatOrmondSt with your pics if you are having a sale, or just a slice of cake with your cuppa. And don’t forget to DONATE to help them reach their fundraising target to help more children and families receive the care and treatment they need.
